The Kids in Charge* (KIC) program is offered in all West Bloomfield School District elementary schools to children from 1st to 5th grade and middle schools from 6th to 8th grade. Students are educated about the dangers and health risks of cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs. Apart from teaching kids the hazards of these substances, they are also instructed on how to effectively, assertively, and confidently say no to peer pressure. Students also learn about coping skills and safe & trusted adults. The KIC program has helped significantly reduce drug use rates throughout West Bloomfield.
